Locality protection
The project focuses on a priority endemic species M. smejkalii occurring in a mosaic of forest vegetation (biotope L8.3 Spring heath Scots pine forests) with steppe vegetation and protruding serpentine rocks. Despite its uniqueness, this location had not statutory protection for a very long time. National Natural Monument Hadce u Želivky was proclaimed in 2011 according to the proposal of ČSOP Vlašim related to the Natura 2000 network. Proclaimed NPP includes only the most valuable part of the area with the occurrence of M. smejkalii and most of the other important species. It is made up of several separate parts according to the documented occurrence of M. smejkalii. Population of M. smejkalii is located on both banks of Sedlický stream and near the former river Želivka.
